What are you for?

"we will gladly do, all we reasonably can,
if you can show us what we have to gain
by being for your cause"

Reading this mornings paper I came across an article that was about 'Fighting Global Warming' and I wondered if this type of campaign would be effective?

Looking at issues from a negative viewpoint does not inspire people. The 'War against Drugs' was a dismal failure despite the massive money and effort expended. Telling people the negative things that will happen to them if they take drugs, just has not worked. Trying to scare people sober hasn't scared anyone long term.

So maybe we should follow the lead of the big advertising agencies and marketers? They don't try and sell you a car by saying, if you don't buy our car you will get in an accident and die. Rather they tell you about how much fun and excitement you will have with their beautiful car or SUV. That's what sells.

So instead of being against something lets be for something. Let's be for clean air and pristine lakes. Let's be for a healthy environment. Let's talk about the advantages and then explain the easy steps, so that we can all help clean up the world.

let's be for a fun, easy life, over-flowing with abundance for everyone!

"everyone wants hope and the prospect
of a better life. We will gladly pay if
someone will show us the way"

Eduardo, I love your idea that life should be fun and easy.

I've been reading Barbara Ehrenreich's "Dancing in the Streets." She says that in the middle ages Europeans had dozens of carnival days, holidays, and saints' day festivals, all elaborately celebrated. They worked far fewer days than we do. It was the rise of Calvinism coinciding with the rise of Capitlism that suppressed many of those fun traditions. The Calvinists thought that fun was mostly bad, and the business people used the religious movement to turn people into non-stop workers and consumers. In less "developed" societies than our own, humans have had more time for play, recreation, and repose in between bouts of hard work.

that sounds like a fascinating book John. I'll make a point to check it out.
I have found though that some people can't get their head around the idea of life not being hard and difficult. I'm living the things that I write and all I can say is that in a study of one person, its working great.
