Blink....and you'll get what you want!

I've been reading a book called..Blink! by Malcolm Gladwell. I'm only half done it however I picked up some thoughts similiar to one's I had when I read the book Mind Power.
In the book the authors point to a study where they gave students a short multiple choice test. The test contained words such as; tired, Florida, old age, sick, retiring and slowing down. The key words were not so frequent that it would be noticeable to the students. After the exam they were individually sent to another instructor.
On the way to their appointment, they were video taped and it was noticed in all most every instance the students were observed to walk slower, speak slower and generally lacked energy.
This is called by physcologists as priming. A simple process of lacing what is read or heard with words that evoke certain feelings in people. It is not brain washing! Advertisers have used it for many years but the medical professionals are just learning about it.
It does very clearly illustrate that we should be cautious of the words we use in self talk and to those who we care about. And we should be aware of the kind of words others use around us. It may be affecting us in ways we are not conscious of.
Tons have been written about positive thinking and keeping healthy images etc around us daily. It's funny its taken the 'big brains' so long to study this.
So amigos, I propose that we try a little test to see if all this stuff really works. Here's what I would like you to do.....speak and concentrate on these words daily for the next week. I'll let you know how it works out....
