Be careful what you rush to dismiss

We all read and hear about different ideas and decided instantly whether we had any interest or not. What I'm thinking about is when we dismiss an idea or a thought that might acually been good for us.

I read a lot of books and frequently I will think of someone who I think in my sphere of influence would benefit from me sharing my discovery.

It was interesting to me that the one's that I thought that would benefit from it the most were the one's I know would be least interested in watching, reading or even talking about it. It's much the same when you go to a seminar, you look around and see who is there and who is not? Yep, those that need it, aren't there, and those who are already on the right path, are there.

By contrast those that I felt needed it the least were the one's who jumped right on something that sounded interesting to them. They saw the immediate benefit not just for them but for others they thought might find value. This has me thinking about what I might have dismissed in my life that could have had major benefit to me? Now obviously its healthy to dismiss some things like recreational drugs for instance. But perhaps we would all benefit if we were just a little more open minded and were not so quick to dismiss what we don't initially understand.

Here is the thought...what if I'm wrong? Just contemplate for a moment all the good things you missed because you thought you had all the answers?

Then there are those who dismiss the ideas of others and by doing so crush their enthusiasm. The damage done by belittling someone else's dreams can be devastating. Here's what Mark Twain had to say about that...

"keep away from people who belittle your ambitions.
Small people always do that but the great one's
make you feel that you too, can become great"

AMEN many times over on that one. The worst damage anyone can do to a person is to squash his dreams, no matter how they may seem in our own logic. Each of us is a unique creation- a totally unique EXPRESSION of God Himself-- and who are we to judge another?? Our purpose is not someone else's and theirs is not ours-- why not just let God take care of that??

That idea thing is good too. Even the Word says "TEST all things against the Word, and keep that which is good"-- for those that don't KNOW the Word-- test it against what your "insides" tell you is right-- weigh it out against what you know works-- and keep the good.

I'm reminded of a phrase my granny use to say when I was staying there while my Mom taught school. I'd go to her with some problem that I thought would end the world for sure, and granny would grin and say "go have some fun, Dave, it'll all come out in the wash!" She was right. And thank you GREATLY for the "Ask and It Is Given"-- I've only read the first 7 chapters so far and WOW-- if it gets any better, I don't know how I'll be able to stand it! All this excitement and fun will have to bubble over on everybody I come in contact with-- or was that the general idea??? ha. THanks again for everything.

What really gets me is the "church" people. I'm a minister, but I am open minded enough to realize that ALL things are of God (source, as the non-religious would call Him) and are TOOLS for our development to enjoy things with. So many of these "religious" people whom I love dearly, are so ready to totally dismiss these simple ideas even though I can show them directly from the Word that it says exactly the SAME THING!! For instance- the Law of Attraction is simply "Ask and you shall receive" and that is stated EXACTLY like that in several places, yet some of my "conservative, hard-line" christians REFUSE to watch "The Secret" or read "Ask and It Is Given" because "it's not Bible"!! What they don't realize is, that when these scriptures were written- THEY WEREN"T BIBLE EITHER!! Oh well, I have to do what I can and let them make their own choices. I just hate to see them miss out on what could be so joyous!!

I run into this myself many times. I've come to the conclusion that for those with their minds closed to possibilities, the best form of communications to live your life as an example of what we talk about.
After awhile they can't help but notice how well our lives are going that they just have to know what we are on...

ONe time a rich man had two sons- one very optimistic and positive and the other a constant complainer and worry wort. The father decided he was going to "change" them and so ordered the servants to put the negative son's room full of toys of every imaginable kind, candy, and anything else a child could dream of. In the positive son's room was another surprise totally. The boys came home from school and the positive son went running to his room smiling and laughing while the negative son sat on the stairs moping and had to be told to go to his room. A few minutes later, the father heard gleeful laughter coming from one room and crying from the other. He went to check and found that the negative son was crying. When asked why, he responded that he couldn't get to his tv for all the junk in the floor and all over his bed. Going into the other room, he found the positive son digging through the huge pile of horse maneur laughing out loudly. Confused, the father asked why he was laughing because he was covered in the dung and the room stank to high heaven. The young boy said "with all this crap in here, there HAS to be a pony in here somewhere!"-- I best start digging!!
