God saved my life!

This is an excerpt from a letter to the editor, in my local paper today. It was written by an 80 year old lady, who also noted in her letter that the driver was doing something distracting, while she was driving, (she didn't say what)

"I was crossing the street, on the 'Walk' sign, when suddenly I looked up and saw a car--which had turned off the Avenue. It was coming straight at me.

For the most part of my 80 plus years I have depended on God and Christian Science for my protection.

Well, that still, small voice told me to jump and I gave a flying leap ahead. The car just skimmed me. The lady driver stopped the car, put down the window and several times said how sorry she was.

I was somewhat shaken and had no reply, but went on my way rejoicing.

I hope that lady learned a lesson about her driving from this experience. After all, she received great protection also."

What an incredible attitude! Can you imagine how you might have felt if a driver was talking on the phone, smoking or putting on make up and nearly ran you over? Would you be mad and thanking God that he protected you from injury and the driver from committing an offence.

I had to think about this one. I think I might have been thanking God for protecting me, but I confess, I probably would not have thought, to thank God, for protecting the careless driver. Now that amigos, is an inspiring attiude!

Here is another inspiring story that was also in a letter to the editor, right next to the previous letter...

"our 11 year old daughter was unable to join in the trick or treating (Halloween) because of an injury to her ankle, which left her on crutches. Given the circumstances, she chose to hand out candy at our door.

During the evening two young girls came to our door. They had already been to our house. One girl handed our daughter a whole bag of candy. This is for you, because you couldn't go out on your crutches, one girl said.

The candy was given from dividing their own treats, not from the collection of another bag.

We want to thank those girls for their selflessness and generosity provided to our daughter, who they did not know at all."

Amazing where we can find inspiration, if we look!

That has happened to me MANY times. I was to go on a bodyguard assignment several years back, and was booked on a flight to LA, then to Iowa, then Chicago, then Ohare, and a few others. Anyway, I had a time getting through traffic and was complaining about that, and about three miles from the airport, had a flat with a bad spare in the trunk and no jack. I spent the day complaining because that assignment was $80 an HOUR-- full time, but when I arrived home later and saw the news, that was the flight of the DC10 that went down in Sioux City Iowa killing almost everybody aboard... and that is one of many times that has happened.. and here I was complaining about a flat..
