How will you know when your life is perfect?

"we are just as responsible for the good we didn't do, as the fun we didn't have"

I was having a great discussion with a friend, when he posed several questions to me. Bear in mind that he thinks I’m just a little nuts, but even so he wasn’t ready my answer. First he asked me if my life was perfect, which I had to admit it's not, but getting closer every day. Then he dropped that bombshell...how will you know when you life is perfect?

Now I hadn't contemplated that question in any depth before but the answer came to me almost immediately. I expect when I tell you my response you might not agree. And by my standard, certainly very few people on the planet, would measure up. Perhaps its not realistic but then no one ever accused me of being realistic anyway. Before you dismiss my response as another kooky idea, I ask that you play with the thought for awhile. I'm hoping at least a few people might see the actual brillance of the idea.

"it takes a little courage and intelligence to occasionally act the fool"

First of all, let me say that I believe nothing created by mankind, is absolutely perfect. There is always some room for improvement. Life would be boring if there was no need to change something. So when I say perfect, I actually mean mostly perfect. Now let the drums roll, the banners fly, it's too good to be true, but here is my brilliant insight....

"my life will be perfect when I'm having fun in every aspect of my life"

Yes friends, I will consider my life perfect when, I'm having fun at work, home, in my relationships, in my quest for spiritual satisfaction, in my health, in my bank account and in any other area I can think about. Think about it? Imagine (makes me want to break out into John Lennon's song...) having fun with every part of your life? How could life ever be hard or difficult if you are having fun?

The guy who is making a bundle of loot at work and yet has a lousy relationship with his family, imagine how much sweeter all that success would be if he also had fun at home. The woman who loves her kids passionately but has no fun at work, would probably think she was in heaven, if she could have both. And really why shouldn’t we have fun everywhere?

"if your life is boring and predictable, it is because you aren't having enough fun"

How many people had heart attacks when they were having fun? And even if the did, you always hear about how they died doing what they loved. Death loses it's fear component when that happens. How many are stressed out when they are having fun at work? How many relationships are in trouble when both parties are having fun? How many parents are having problems with their kids, when they are having so much fun with them? And this brings me to insight number 2!

"when you are having fun, life gets easy"

The more I think about it, the more I'm coming to realization that my philosophy is actually logical and inspired. Good grief, I might have discovered my inner genius! Ok, I'm willing to concede that I'm a little off center but admit it....I'm having fun and the million dollar question is...

ARE YOU?

Imagine for a moment, that whenever you had to make a difficult decision, as a part of your decision making process, you asked yourself.....will I have any fun doing it? This is not to imply that you should make a decision based on nothingmore than that you can have fun, that would be silly. What I’m saying is that after you have considered all the pros of cons, then ask yourself…and will I have any fun doing this? Of course everyone's definition of fun is different. Mine has to be based on what it is healthy and good for me, so getting happy doesn't involve taking drugs or jumping out of airplanes.

This is a topic worthy of a book or at least a few more articles (on second thought, come to think of it, I've already written over 300 articles on similar stuff).

Smile, there are more ways to have fun, then you can possibly imagine!

Eduardo
