Breaking rules for fun and profit

"it's important to learn the rules so that you can learn the best way to break them"
When the rules fail us, maybe it's time to break them. I'm not advocating breaking the law nor doing harm to ourselves or others. However, sometimes the existance of rules are for the sole purpose of someone maintaining power and control of us. (think of politicians here)
Beware the rule freak!
Rule freaks find comfort in the status quo, they like the masses, are content with slow progress. They get power by knowing the rules better than everyone else. It makes them feel important to point out rule infractions. They are also known as the 'rule police'. They don't like people like me!
"rule freaks are every bit as bad as serial rule breakers"
CONFESSION #1 I occasionally break the rules.
CONFESSION #2 I get a big kick out of breaking rules
CONFESSION #3 I urge you to break a rule today.
Ok, here are my rules...no bad word....here are my guidelines for breaking rules:
1. You can't break too many rules or it will lead to chaos
2. I don't break the law (well not very often, maybe a little speeding etc)
3. Don't do harm (to yourself or others)
4. Accept the consequences of your rule breaking
5. Have fun!
Remember what I said earlier that rules lead to slow progress? I'm thinking about some famous people who broke the rule of ...to succeed you need to go to college. Here are some drop outs who did fairly well for themselves; Bill Gates of Microsoft, Steve Jobs from Apple and an unemployed single mother named JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame.
"any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it" Henry David Thoreau
Most great discoveries and inventions would not have happened had not someone had the good sense to break the rules. Columbus broke the rule about the world being flat and discovered America. Einstien, Edison and Paris Hilton all profited by breaking the rules.
I break lots of little rules, some (as evidenced by my poor writing skills) that would have driven my English teachers bananas. When I go to the local shopping mall, I believe they paint those yellow lines on the curbs so that others won't take my preferred parking spots.
The existance of this blog was born from breaking the rule that, life is hard and difficult (and then you die). My simple brain just wasn't buying that rule so I changed it to....life was meant to be fun, easy and abundant (and then you live).
Smile, your happiness may be just one broken rule away!

P.S. The handsome young fellow in the picture is my little amigo Antoine. He shows great potential to be a 'world class rule breaker'.

As a teenager I had a poster on the wall in my bedroom that said...
QUESTION AUTHORITY...I still think it is a good idea!
That's probably why my Navy career was so short lived!
