That's good because...

A short while ago, I was working on a deal, that would have been very profitable for me. Everything looked great and we were very close to a final agreement. It looked like the money was in the bank.....and then POOF! Everything fell apart. I can tell you I was greatly disappointed.
I stewed about my loss for a few hours and came to the realization, that there was no way to salvage the deal. It was time to give up and move on. Then I remembered a technique that I used to teach others in just this type of situations. Funny how you know some good stuff and then forget all about it!
So amigos, I will share my simple technique with you now. When something undesireable happens in your life, write this down....
thats good because....
When I tried this myself on the scenario I just described I had some incredible results. At first, I just couldn't think of anything good about losing out. However, the thought 'that's good because' stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Later on, I had a terrific idea that led me to making two deals where I would have only had one. Twice the profit and a good lesson re-learned.
Now I'm not suggesting that you will always have this kind of turnaround from a bad situation. Sometimes the good thing in misfortune is just a good lesson learned. However, you will be amazed as I am that there is frequently something positive to be taken from misfortune. A change in the way you view it, can make a big difference.
It reminds me of a Garth Brooks song that was a hit a number of years ago...
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
Do me a favour and try this out!

Dear Ed,
I think prayers are answered in three ways:
1. yes
2. no
3. not yet
Many times I have, in hind sight, understood why the thing I wanted was withheld. Sometimes in the moment I just can't see it. If I was all knowing I wouldn't need to pray. If I am going to pray then I need to trust in the wisdom of the One I am praying to. When I don't get what I want I can either act like a two year old and throw a fit or I can try to accept the will of my Creator with the grace of an adult. That is what works for me.
