The vaccum law of prosperity and happiness

I'll just bet you never heard of this one? I found this in an old book that was written in the early '60's by Catherine Ponder. It's called the 'Vacuum Law of Prosperity and Happiness' and this is what it says....

"If you want greater abundance, start forming a vacuum to receive it"

In other words, get rid of what you don't want to make room for what you do want. Nature abhors a vacuum and will rush to fill it.

This law takes a certain boldness and faith to practice. Often it is difficult to know what you do want until you get rid of what you do not want. (oh no, I can see disgruntled wives showing their husbands to the door)

It does make a certain amount of sense that when you begin moving out of your life, what you do not want, you are automatically making way for what you do want. By letting go of the lessor you make way for the greater.

The implications are huge and sometimes even scary. Letting go of a bad relationship might mean a period of being alone. Letting go a crappy job might mean some unemployment in your future.

And what about all that stuff that we accumulate?

One problem some of us might have with letting go of stuff, is that we have memories attached to them. One solution is to take pictures of the item you are discarding. That way you retain the memory but make space something better to come into your life.

So say goodbye to the blue polyester suits and stand by for your new wardrobe!

I am familiar with Catherine Ponder's writing. She is a Unity minister. I agree with the concept of letting go of the things I no longer need in order to receive new things that I do need.
I have always been a pack rat. Losing everything when my home burned taught me a valuble lesson, but a very painful one. I no longer hold on to things with a death grip. That goes for the people in my life too. In fact, the more I can let go of everything in my life the happier I am. That goes for the good and the bad things. When I place my dependence on God I am free to let everything and everyone come or go and understand that it's all simply on loan.
Another concept is the one of gratitude. If I'm not grateful for the things I do have then why would God give me more? If I don't take care of those things then I am demonstrating that I'm not capable of of additional responsibility.
Thanks for getting my brain in gear today!
