I'm damn proud of you Americans!

I am blessed to have some American friends that I really like (ok one of them can be really annoying at times) and tonight I kept thinking to myself...I am so damn proud of those Americans!

As a proud Canadian and like most of the world I stand in awe of what Americans have done...electing the first black President. All countries have a dark moments in their history. Tonight I believe Americans cast light into those dark shadows. I am in awe.

Tonight I watched on my TV the birth of a true multi-racial democratic society. One thing many Americans don't understand is the effect that they have on the rest of the world. Earlier tonight I saw a news piece about how the world would vote (if they had one). Virtually the whole world felt that Obama would be their choice. Tonight the world felt that it had won!

As a political junkie I understand that politics can be a dirty war. But I also stand in awe with the gracious concession of John McCain. A decent man, a war hero gives his due to his worthy opponent. The fact that he was black was totally inconsequential.

Only time will tell whether President Obama is the right man at these difficult times. I am however confident that this is the right man for America and the world. Just for the record I would normally cheer for the other side.

I listened to the speech of President Obama, watched the tears in the black Americans and I felt the pride and the hope of this generation. I witnessed the children of Barack Obama the President elect on the stage, I thought to myself they are not black they are just kids. Color lost its importance and a nation grew up in front of my eyes.

What a remarkable young man this President of the United States of America. What an incredible orator. I'll pray for his success.

As someone who considers himself a citizen of the world, I'll have an extra glass of wine tonight to celebrate my American friends. That statement that 'all men are created equal' was played out in front of me on my TV. I told my son..... remember this time, it will be a monumental moment in history. Well done!

Very eloquently said Ed. I woke my daughter up at midnight to tell her the good news and we both stood up and cheered and clapped our hands. After a few high fives she went back to bed and I sat up watching TV and nearly holding my breath, lest some election machine might malfunction and say it wasn't true after all. Today I am overjoyed and I feel so much hope. It's been pretty rough down here in this "good ol boy" state. I heard people say things like, "isn't he a muslim" or "I just can't vote for a black man" and "what about that church he belongs to" and on and on. The last hate message I heard was this, "I hope someone shoots him if he is elected."

During the last few months I have gotten an e-mail from B. Obama every few days. The mail was about how our world will change and how I can have a part in that change. I have to tell you I have NEVER gotten an e-mail from any other candidate before.

I feel like rolling out into the middle of the street and danceing! Then the neighbors would know just how nuts I am...and they might come out to dance WITH me!!!

No sirree, I like Inga's, in fact they can annoy (oops, I mean motivate)me anytime they wish.

And do bear in mind that our border is protected.
