What this world needs...

"The more troubled the times the greater is the need for inspiration. For only from inspiration can the fires of hope be lit. And without hope all is lost"
This morning I listened to United States President Barack Obama's inaugeration speech. It sent chills through my body. That was the best political speech I have ever heard. It was beyond inspiring and if you have not seen it, you should. You can find it on youtube.
How fortunate our American friends have chosen a man with purpose and vision that appears to be so right for these times. Only time will tell whether the man will live up to the grandeur of his words. I'm very hopeful and that is the point. Hope was in short supply before this remarkable young man came on the scene.
His approach to his Presidency is nothing short of a breath of fresh air. Mostly though I am taken back by his ability to inspire the masses. So rarely do we see anyone who can really inspire, especially when it comes to politicians.
Here are a few excerpts from his speech that hit a chord with me...
"the time has come to set aside childish things" from the scriptures
"what the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them"
"for we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and non-believers"
"to the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect"
"for as much as government can and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies"
"we choose hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord"
Beautifully written speech delivered so powerfully that I challenge anyone to find fault with it. Inspiring....
Smile, the chance for world peace seems a little brighter today

Mark my words, behind the great orator lies the EXACT same people who put the US in the mess it is in now..nothing will change with Obama as President. This is not being cynical, but realistic. The US is NOT run by the President, but by a group of wealthy neo-cons..wake up America, you are sinking...
I don't share your cynicism Yoda but one thing is clear to me...it won't take long before we know if any really change is coming. Reminds me of that 'lipstick on pig' comment during the election. Here's hoping for the best...
